Doctors Use DMCA to Censor Bad Reviews.

A company called Medical Justice is reportedly using the DMCA to censor critical reviews of their clients – doctors. In response, some legal experts have set up a website to challenge this practise by allowing bad reviews to be posted on their site instead.

The British government is, at last, moving to reform the country’s notorious libel law, which has long made London a magnet for frivolous lawsuits. The reform proposal presented to Parliament last week by Kenneth Clarke, the justice secretary, is far from perfect but represents a reasonable first effort to change a law regarded as so unfair that it has been condemned by the United Nations. Last summer, President Obama signed a bill blocking enforcement of British libel judgments in American courts.

Flickr Using Questionable Excuse To Take Down Photos From Egypt | Techdirt.

On Friday, after Clay Shirky’s excellent talk about social media and the Middle East at SXSW, someone in the audience pointed out how some photos from Egypt of secret service agents had been removed from Flickr. Shirky later tweeted a link to coverage of the takedown letter, which mentions vague terms of service violations. Yahoo later came out and claimed the images were taken down because they weren’t taken by the uploader.

SIR Fred Goodwin was criticised last night after a super-injunction to stop people calling him a banker backfired and sparked an outpouring of ridicule online.
